Welcome to the Bunkai Karate-Do site. Bunkai Karate-Do is a non-profit organization operated by second dan black belt instructor Ronald Philpott. The style of Karate taught is Wado-Kai which translates to way of peace. The style originated in Japan and was founded around 1935 by Hironori Otsuka. The style has many followers around the world. Ron operates his club in Quebec. This site is for everyone whether you know nothing about Karate, are a practising karateka (student) or you are from another style and wish to broaden your scope of knowledge in the martial arts.

Karate has had the reputation of being a violent sport. Quite the contrary, Karate is a peaceful Martial Art teaching things like respect, confidence, and peace within ones self. It is self-defense only to be used as a last resort to save your own life or that of a loved one. Dealing with and Prevention of certain situations is taught for the best defense to an attack is not to be there.

Children as well as adults who are shy and intimidated become a little more assertive and confident. Those who are hyper or a little agressive learn to be calm and controlled.

Karate is also very good for your health. It is good to reduce stress, increase your cardiovascular endurance, muscle strength, flexibility and coordination.

Ronald Philpott is the head Sensei and teaches classes to chidren 5 to 12 years old and to 12 year olds and up. The dojo (place of practise) is in an elementary school gym where classes are usually given in the evenings for a reasonable fee. He also teaches at local schools and at a local gym "Centre Body Fitness" where he teaches children and his daughter Brenda, a competitive bodybuilder and also black belt teaches adult Karate.

His wonderful and lovely wife Jean compliments the club with her help and amazing organizational abilities. She is always smiling and very happy to answer any questions anyone might have.

Ronald Philpott has been involved in Karate and the Martial Arts for over 20 years. Bunkai Karate-do has been around for over 13 years. Ronald has a wonderful personality and lots of patience. He teaches discipline and is known for his abilities in working with children. The children learn very important tools for life all while having fun. It has been proven that many skills like self-discipline can be applied in real life at school or on the job.
